Willie Lee Blankenship

Willie Lee Blankenship, 90 of Wharncliffe, WV died February 7th, 2020 at Logan Regional Hospital in Logan, WV of a short illness.

He was born on February 3rd, 1930. He was the son of Leander and Emma (Musick) Blankenship. He was a United States Army Veteran. He was a huge Cincinnati Reds fan and loved watching football on the television.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Leander and Emma (Musick) Blankenship; nine brothers, Charlie, Andy William, Dave, Author, Leonard, Willis, Floyd, and Luther; five sisters, Sadie Miller, Bessie Hinkler, Octavia Bethel, Hazel Gibson, and Patricia Oberle; one granddaughter, Laura Blankenship; his wife, Rita Blankenship; and one son, Gary Lee Blankenship.

Those left to mourn his passing includes his brother; Joe F. (Geraldine) Blankenship of Gilbert, WV; grandchildren, Freddie Blankenship of Middletown, Ohio, Vallarie Blankenship and Christy Blankenship of Louisiana, Leeann Blankenship and Teresa Milar Pacheco of Portsmouth, Ohio; many nieces and nephews who he loved dearly and they loved him; his nephew, Carl Toler Jr. with whom he lived and was his caregiver; special friend, Stella Roberts; one son, Rick Blankenship of New Boston, Ohio.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Logan Regional Medical Center’s nurses and doctors for their love and support.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, February 10th, 2020 with Pastor Jonas Trent officiating at Collins Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Muncy Cemetery in Little Muncy, WV. Pallbearers will include friends and family. Honorary pallbearers will include Carl Toler Jr. A visitation will be held also at Collins Funeral Home Chapel from 6:00-9:00 pm Sunday, February 9th, 2020.
