Sylvia Mae Adkins, 80, of Switzer, WV passed away peacefully at her home on the morning of June 11, 2025 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born on May 1, 1945 to the late Wetzel and Della (Collins) Nelson on Dempsey Branch in Mud Fork, WV.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by two brothers, Johnny Earl Nelson and Richard Lee Nelson; one sister, Judy (Gary) Frankum; one daughter Teresa Renee MacDonald; and the love of her life and husband, Raymond Adkins.

She is survived by two daughters, Sherry MacDonald, with whom she lived with and was cared for during her illness, and Tiffany Arbogast of Mill Creek; one sister, Barb (John) Harden of Stollings; three grandsons, Seth (Daphine) Browning of Wellston, OH, Michael Ray Arbogast of Mill Creek, and Jeremiah Manuel of Holden; five fur babies who already miss her terribly, and could do nothing wrong in her eyes, Maggie and Iggy, her guardians, and Merlin, Archie, and Gretchen. 

The family would like to say a special thank you to LEASA, EMS, Hospice, and Dr. Harvey for all the help they’ve shown them the past few months. 

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, June 19, 2025 at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Pecks Mill with Rev. John Harden officiating.
