Obituary

Shelby J. Collins, 80, of Switzer, W.Va., passed away to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.

Born July 4, 1945, in Logan, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late William “Trap” Collins and Mae (Fleming) Collins. She was also preceded in death by four brothers: David Collins, Freddie Collins, William Collins Jr., and Johnny Collins (infant).

Shelby was a wonderful mother who dearly loved her family. She was devoted to those she loved and gave of herself freely, always putting her family’s needs before her own. She was a child of God and found great comfort in reading His word.

Survivors include her son, George E. Schaffer II (Crystal), and her daughter, Kimberly J. Kyle, both of Ohio; two grandchildren, Amber and Vincent Sichini; and two great‑grandchildren, Lincoln Conner and Natalia Stevens.

She is also survived by her siblings: Larry “Midge” Collins and Ralph Collins, both of Switzer, W.Va.; Chester “Checko” Collins of Barnabus, W.Va.; and Carolyn Sue Green of West Milton, Ohio.

A special thank‑you is extended to all who helped care for Shelby, and to the compassionate staff of Luminary Hospice for their support during her final days.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Collins Funeral Home Chapel in Switzer, WV. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Pecks Mill, WV.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Collins Funeral Home, Inc. of Switzer, WV.
