Sarah Elizabeth Sullins, 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones. She went to her eternal rest in the loving arms of Jesus.
Sarah was born on May 2, 1944, in Barnabus, West Virginia. She enjoyed her early years there before later moving to Chauncey, where she built a life centered family and love.
Sarah’s most cherished treasure was her family. She devoted her life to caring for those she loved and found her greatest joy in being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her home was a place of comfort, warmth, and welcome. She was known for her servant’s heart and gracious hospitality, always making sure everyone was fed, cared for, and surrounded by love.
Sarah especially enjoyed cooking delicious meals for her family and gathering everyone around the table. She enjoyed camping trips to East Lynn Lake, family vacations to Myrtle Beach, and making lasting memories with her children and grandchildren. Sarah spent her life putting others first, quietly and faithfully showing her love through her constant care and selflessness.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 63 years, Walter Carroll Sullins; her loving daughters, Lucy (Chuck) Vinson and Leah Sullins Kinzer; her granddaughter, Brittany (Jacob) Long; her beloved great-grandchildren, Brody, Grayson, Carter, and Cannyn Rose Long, her brother, Billy (Debbie) Russell & sister, Murial Kay (Melvin) Meade. She also leaves behind a host of extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, James Alvin and Lucy Ellen Russell; her sister, Rosella “Rosie” Carpenter; and her brothers, Buddy and Bobby Russell.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Sarah’s life on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Collins Funeral Home in Switzer, West Virginia. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., with a brief service and burial to follow at the family cemetery in Chauncey, WV.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that Sarah’s legacy of love, care, and devotion to her family will continue to live on in each of us.
“I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers, I always pray with joy — grateful for the love, kindness, and joy you brought into our lives.”
