Ronald Eugene Hurst

Ronald Eugene Hurst, 82, of Sarah Ann, WV, departed this life on April 29, 2025, at CAMC Memorial.

Born February 1, 1943, to the late Roy and Ida Hurst in Pine Creek, WV. He was also preceded in death by two sons at birth, son-Bobby Hurst, granddaughter-Nikko Booth, brother-James Randall Hurst, and his wife of 48 years, Lillian Hurst.

Ronald was a retired coal miner and a veteran of the United States Army. Ronald loved to joke and there was never a dull moment when in his presence. He always helped anyone he was able to. Until recent years, Ronald stayed busy working on vehicles, caring for and riding horses, gardening, ATV riding, and staying as busy as possible in his yard and doing anything outdoors. He loved spending time with family and friends and especially looked forward to his family’s weekly Sunday cookouts.

Those left to cherish his memory include his brothers- Willard Hurst, LeRoy Hurst, Terry (Donna) Hurst, and Larry Hurst. sisters- Clara (Chris) Wallace, Mary (Larry) Welch, and Thelma (Elbert) Johnson; sons- Roy Hurst of Sarah Ann and Tom (Christy) Hurst of Sarah Ann; daughter- Lori (Gentry) Hurst of Sarah Ann; grandchildren- Reverend Sherman (Shatika) Jones Jr., Miranda Jones, Jason (Cassie) Jones, Ronald Hurst, Lilly (Isaiah) Mauk, Chyanne Hurst, Elijah Hurst, and Austin Kennedy; eleven great-grandchildren- Dontez, Jediah, Taijh, Richez, Mario, Kentrell, Celia, Grayson, Aria, Zara, and Riley; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

A memorial service will be held at West Logan Church on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 6:30 pm with Pastors Scotty Dingess, Sherman Jones, and Scott Hurst officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior.
