Opal Lee Hamaker

Opal Lee Hamaker, 80 of Omar, WV departed this life on Monday, June 22, 2026, at her residence. She was born on November 17, 1945, in Dingess, WV and was the daughter of the late Lewis Meade and Elva Meade. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Danny Hamaker; and siblings, Merrill Joy Meade, Anna Scarberry, Willard “Bud” Meade, and Wendell “Cheater” Meade.

She was a teacher at Dingess Grade School and later at Omar Grade School, where she retired after her teaching career.

Those left to cherish her loving memory includes her sister, Norma Gay (Tom) Caudill of Vienna, WV; and stepchildren, Charles D. Hamaker, Jr., Michelle Tamberollo, and Danika Durham.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Tina, Angela, and Thomas for all your support, kindness, and dedication. Your efforts are truly appreciated.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm Friday, June 26, 2026 at Collins Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mark Watkins officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens in Godby, WV. Pallbearers will include family and friends.

A visitation will begin one hour prior to the funeral service at 11:00 am.
