Maxine S. (Curry) Ferrell

On Saturday, May 7th, Maxine Curry Ferrell left this world to meet her Lord and Savior after battling a long illness. She is the daughter of the late Harley Thomas Curry and Ethel White Perry Curry of Cow Creek, WV.

Maxine was born in September of 1929, one of 17 children who grew up on Cow Creek, and married the love of her life, Jeff Ferrell, in September of 1950. Together they settled in Ragland and had 4 children, Gail, Dinah, Donald and Greta.

She was predeceased by her husband Jeff Ferrell, son Donald Ferrell, and daughter Dinah Ferrell Hughes. She is also predeceased by brothers – Arvil Perry of Gautier, MS; Ernest Perry of Cow Creek WV; Ira Lee Perry of Arizona; Harley T. Curry Jr. of Sharples WV;  Freelan Curry of Maple Valley, WA;  Dennis Curry of Maple Valley, WA;  and Raymond Curry of Bloomington, IL; and sisters – Frances Birkhead of Columbus, OH; Gladys Chafin of Silver Spring, MD;  Tressa Powell of Craig, MO; Nancy Powell of Albany, OR; Edith Mahon of Delbarton, WV; Betty Gail White of Rosedale, OR; and Ruth Joy Lawrence of Sevierville, TN.

Surviving are daughters Gail Curry (Arthur) of Logan and Greta Cline (Victor) of Panther, grandchildren Coby Crum (Angie), Tara Evans (Chris), Aaron White (Brittany), Ryan Hughes, Shana Hughes and great-grandchildren Logan and Alyssa, Desiree Sloan (Brandon) and Morgan Crum. two sisters survive her – Mary Flinn of Frederick, MD and Sharon Curry of St. Albans, WV, and hundreds of nieces and nephews and cousins whom she loved as her own.

Visitation will be held at Rockhouse Freewill Baptist Church in Ragland on Wednesday, May 11 between the hours of 6-9. The funeral will be held at Rockhouse at 1:00 pm and will be officiated by Pastor Scott Erwin.  Pallbearers will be family and friends. Flowers can be sent to the church at RR3 Box 180, Delbarton WV 25670.
