Mary (Hatfield) Thern

Mary (Hatfield) Thern, 80 of Forest City, NC, departed this life on Tuesday, January 17^th, 2023, at Forest City Hospice House. She was born on July 31^st, 1942, in Logan County, WV and was the daughter of the late Harry W. Hatfield and Ester Mae (Chafin) Hatfield. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Thern.

She was a retired schoolteacher. She adored her grandchildren more than anything.

Those left to cherish her loving memory includes two sons, Mark (Sharon) Thern and JonMarcus K. (Savanah) Thern; three daughters, Elizabeth Bryant, Susan (Billy) Kazee, and Alyssa (Eric) Castillo; eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren who will all love and miss her.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 21^st, 2023, at Collins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John D. Hatfield officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens in Godby, WV. Pallbearers will include family and friends.

A visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service.
