Marylou “Lou” Blevins, 52, of Whitman, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2021. She was lovingly raised by Lorraine Blevins and Calvin Ferguson, in Man, WV, where she graduated from Man High School in 1986.
Marylou spent most of her adult life serving others while working at Janet’s Park & Eat. But it was not until a few years ago that she discovered her true passion: her love for art. Listening to her talk about the paintings she completed and those she wished to finish brought out Mary’s infectious happiness that quickly spread to all of those around her. Her art displayed her genuine personality. Although not always refined, the beautiful floral paintings embodied Marylou’s colorful and cheerful spirit that she shared with the world.
An affectionate mother and grandmother, Mary loved to laugh and have fun with family and friends. Being an extremely outgoing soul, she rapidly expanded her circle of friends and family allowing her to spread her joyous life to a broader audience. Mary was preceded in death by her mother, Lorraine Blevins. She is survived by her husband Toby Blevins; her son Keith Blevins and wife Jaspreet Blevins; her daughters Tina Blevins, Heather Tomblin, and Karisa Blevins; her siblings Sidney Blevins and wife Crystal Blevins, Tammy Hayes and husband Russell Hayes (late), Ivy Upright and husband Todd Upright, John Rogers and wife Katherine Rogers (late), and Billy Bell; and her son-in-law Michael Tomblin. Mary has four grandchildren: Conner Blevins, Samuel Tomblin, Jaxon Tomblin, and Joseph Blevins. Additionally, Marylou has five nieces and nephews: Kayla Blevins, Shyla Blevins, Ruth Hayes, Eri Hayes, and Tyler Rogers, with one great niece, Riley Blevins.
Marylou was a delight to be around and brightened any room she entered. She will be deeply missed by her family, her dear friends at Janet’s Park & Eat, and anyone who had the pleasure of her company.
The viewing will be held on Sunday, February 28, 2021, from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Collins Funeral Home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, people make donations to the Collins Funeral Home (304-946-2212) to assist with the funeral costs.
