Marsha Dale Van Meter, a beloved resident of Monaville, West Virginia, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. She was born on November 19, 1941, to the late Carmel and Myrtle Mounts.
She will be remembered as a kind and caring soul who would go to great lengths for anyone in need. She embodied the virtues of a “virtuous woman,” as described in Proverbs 31. Throughout her life, she was affectionately known as “Nanny” or “Mamaw Dale” by so many. Her baking and cooking skills were truly remarkable, and she was known for her famous Chicken-N-Dumplings.
Marsha was preceded in death by her husband, David “Poppy” Van Meter; her brothers, Harold, and Richard Mounts; her sisters, Mildred Smith, and Elizabeth Yvonne Gillman; her stepfather, Gilbert Damron; and stepbrother, Donald Lee Damron.
Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, David, and Gary Van Meter; two grandsons, Cory, and David Van Meter; three brothers, Ronald Lee Damron, Gary Ray (Wanda) Damron, and Luther Douglas (Judy) Damron; “The daughter she never had,” Karen (Danny) Hatfield; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Services will be at 11:00 am Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Collins Funeral Home Chapel in Switzer, WV with Pastor Mike Hicks officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens in Godby, WV. Pallbearers will include her family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm Friday, July 11, 2025, at the funeral home chapel.
