Funeral Service
It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kimberly Dawn Baisden Mendez, 63, of Logan, West Virginia, who departed this life on March 20, 2026.
Kimberly was born on September 2, 1962, in Logan, West Virginia. She was a lifelong resident of the area and was known for her kind heart, strength, and the love she gave so freely to her family and those around her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Brenda Baisden; her brother, Charlie Baisden; her loving husband of 42 years, Richard “Rick” Mendez; and special friend, David McKnight. Kimberly leaves behind a family who will cherish her memory forever. She is survived by her daughter, Catherine Jenna’ Ellis (Byrson), and her beloved grandsons, Bryson and Zachary Ellis, all of Chapmanville, West Virginia; her son, Richard Lee Mendez (fiancé, Allison Marie Miller) of Bristol, Virginia; her sister, Stephanie Davis Bevins (Gene) of Logan, West Virginia.
Kimberly was a devoted mother and grandmother whose greatest joy in life was her family. She loved spending time with those she loved, whether it was going on cruises, relaxing at the beach, or simply walking in the sand and enjoying the peaceful moments. She loved to go to her grandson's sporting and school events. She also had a special love for shopping. Both for herself, and for others—finding joy in giving gifts and making the people she loved feel special.
She will be remembered for her love, her generosity, and the warmth she brought into the lives of everyone who knew her.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
A funeral service will be held at 5:00 pm Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Collins Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Josh Vanhook officiating.
