James Larry Owens

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of James Larry Owens, 64, of Omar, WV.

Larry, as he was known, was born to the late Iva (Meadows) Owens Wongler and Jesse L. Owens on March 22, 1959, in Holden, WV.

Before becoming disabled in 2007, he worked in retail; first at Shaheen Shopping Center, then at Super America, and lastly at Walmart.

Larry enjoyed the simple things; a good meal, a good cup of coffee, and a good ball game (and anyone who knew of his love of sports, knows that the game did not have to include the Cincinnati Reds, Kentucky Wildcats, or the Dallas Cowboys); but most of all, he enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends.

Those left to cherish his memory includes his brother, Erby Owens; sister, Reba (James) Taylor; cousins, Paul (Karen) Cornett, Barbara (Kenny) Fleming, Kimberly (John) McDonald, and many other family and friends.

Larry will be cremated but we ask you to join us in celebrating his life at a memorial service at Omar Community Church on Saturday, May 13, 2023, with Pastor Jeremy Tomblin presiding.
