James Franklin McKinney

James Franklin McKinney, 74 of Cow Creek, WV departed this life on Monday, September 2nd, 2024, at Logan Regional Medical Center in Logan, WV. He was born on September 1st, 1950, in Cow Creek, WV and was the son of the late Rev. John McKinney and Betty McKinney.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Dana McKinney, Thomas McKinney, and Earnest McKinney; and three sisters, Rosa, Irene, and Nina.

James worked as a schoolteacher for Logan County Schools for thirty years.

Those left to cherish his loving memory includes five brothers, Millard McKinney, MSgt. Walter McKinney, Arthur McKinney, George McKinney, and Gary McKinney; two sisters, Jolene Virginia Mathis, and Jonnie Faye Abla; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, September 13th, 2024, at Collins Funeral Home Chapel in Switzer, WV. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens in Godby, WV. Pallbearers will include family and friends.

A visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.
