James Lewis Abshire

James Lewis Abshire 82, of Verdunville, departed this life January 25, 2018 in Pikeville Medical Center in KY.  He was born October 18, 1935 in Peytona, WV to the late Lewis and Iva (Johnson) Abshire.  He was of the Baptist faith and a Truck Driver for Sonoco Products.  In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife: Goldie (Vance) Abshire and one sister; Thelma Abraham.  Those left to cherish his memories are three sons; James (Lisa) Abshire of Monaville, Joseph (Jennifer) Abshire of Dracut, MA and James Hurl Vance Abshire of Verdunville, one sister; Betty Hall of Hudson, NH, six grandchildren Jamie, James, Marissa, Casey, Jonathon and Jason, and three great-grandchildren.  Services will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Collins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Meade and Rev. Mike Gunnells officiating. Visitation will begin 2 hours prior to the service. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Collins Funeral Home of Switzer is overseeing the arrangements.
