Howard Lee Carter

Howard Lee Carter 62, of Justice, WV went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 7th, 2019 at Cabell Huntington Hospital after battling a lingering illness. He was born on July 25th, 1957 at Iaeger, WV to the late Ritz and Dorothy Carter.

He was proceeded in death by both of his parents and his two brothers, Dallas Carter and Jackie Carter; his father-in-law, Kennis Justice; and two very special friends, Ranice Cline and Drew Justice. Howard was a loving husband, dad, and friend to everyone he met. He loved to raise a garden and play the guitar. He was a truck driver for many years til he retired. He may be gone from our sight but never forgotten.

Those left behind to cherish his loving memory includes his wife of thirty two years, Melinda Justice Carter of Justice, WV; two kids, Shranda (Robert) Summers of Varney, WV and Tyler Carter of Gilbert, WV; Tyler’s girlfriend who Howard thought of as a daughter, Jade Looney of Gilbert, WV; two grandkids, Aden Stanley of Varney, WV and Alexis Summers of Varney, WV; three brothers, Fabian (Christina) Carter of Gilbert Creek, WV, Stoney (Shanna) Carter of Gilbert Creek, WV, and Ritz Carter of Gilbert, WV; his two Brother-n-Laws; Jason and Christy Justice of Charleston, WV and Allan (Cherri) Justice of Justice, -WV. And two sister -n- Laws; Exie Carter of Wharncliffe, WV and Helen Carter of Justice, WV. He had eight nieces and seven nephews; Caitlyn Carter, Erica Carter, Cindy Lewis, April Toops, Lisa Carter Poteete, Hope, Destiny Carter, Aubree Justice, Brody Carter, Noah Carter, Den Lester, Cletus Lester, Luke Carter, Jessie Hatefield, Joseph Cline and Jayden Burgess and four very special friends; Jason Justice, Allen Justice, Corey Blankenship and Maggie Reed and a host of Great Nieces and Great nephews and friends

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm Sunday, December 15th, 2019 at Full Gospel Church of God at Baisden, WV with Pastor Jonas Trent officiating. Burial will follow in Carter Cemetery which was Howard’s garden. A visitation will be held from 6:00-9:00pm Saturday, December 14th, 2019 also at the church. Pallbearers will be Jason Justice, Allen Justice, Robert Summers, Tyler Carter, Gary Vannatter and Brandon Cook. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ritz Carter, Fabian Carter and Noah Carter and two very special pallbearers will be Aden Stanley and Brody Carter Collins Funeral Home Inc. of Switzer, WV is serving Mr. Carter’s family with arrangements.
