Helen Mitchell

Helen Mitchell, 87 of West Logan, WV, departed this life Saturday, May 14^th, 2022, at her son’s residence. She was born on April 29^th, 1935, in Holden, WV to the late Ben and Dora (Adams) Walsh. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Sheppard; and a host of brothers and sisters.

Mom was married to our dad for many years twenty years or more Fred Sheppard who passed on November 30th, 1976. Mom remarried George Brent Mitchell from Holden, WV on October 26^th, 1976. They lived in Florida for several years and George passed at home and was buried in Sanford, Florida. Mom loved her only living sister very deeply Maudie Walsh, and her only brother Sherman David Walsh from Holden WV. Mom was a kind and gentle person before her illness.

Those left to cherish her loving memory includes one son, Lewis (Sheila) Sheppard of Holden, WV; one daughter, Jeanetta (Thomas) Adkins of Switzer, WV; one brother, Sherman Walsh of Holden, WV; one sister, Maudie Walsh of Wyoming County, WV; nine grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

 The family would like to thank Dr. Rhadha and Summer and the rest of his staff for the care my mother was given. Thanks, is not ever enough for the one you loved so deeply. Mom gave of herself to others in her young years of life, was happy and joyful loved her coffee and her pet rowdy.

A visitation will be held Thursday, May 19^th, 2022, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Collins Funeral Home Chapel.

A graveside service will be held at 1:30 pm also on Thursday at Highland Memory Gardens in Chapmanville, WV with Pastor Larry Hubbard officiating. Pallbearers will include family.
