Gary Dean Jeffrey

Gary Dean Jeffrey, 70, of Hurricane, WV, previously of Sarah Ann, WV, passed away Friday October 28th, 2022 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. He was born June 25th, 1952 in Logan, WV to the late Bill Jack and Mazie (Smith) Jeffrey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by, one brother Jim Jeffrey, one sister Barbara Sue Adkins, one brother-in-law Jerry Phillips, his father and mother in laws Judge and Emma Gail Mullins, and one son Matthew Dean Jeffrey.
Gary was a member of the Hugh C. Boyd 119 AF&AM Masonic Lodge of Red Jacket, WV for 33 years. Gary was an underground coal miner and electrician for 43 years. Gary had worked in youth ministry at his favorite church, River Ridge in Hurricane, and faithfully watched services online as health issues got the better of him. Gary was an outdoorsman. He loved being outside, mowing grass, working in his garage, watching hummingbirds, and enjoying nature. Gary loved to hunt and spend his spare time at his cabin in Greenbrier county. Gary enjoyed all sports and was an avid WVU fan, Bengals fan, and Reds fan. Gary loved kids. All kids. He would help coach baseball teams in the Hurricane Little League was always known to supply the post-game popsicles. Gary also spent numerous hours behind the scenes working with Hurricane’s Youth Football League. After retirement, Gary remained active by spending all of his spare time with his grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
Those left to cherish his wonderful memories include his loving wife of 43 years, Belinda Mullins Jeffrey; his son Stephen (Jennifer) Jeffrey of Hurricane, WV; his daughter Crystal (Hank) Lusk of Hurricane, WV; one brother Bill (Edna) Jeffrey of Stirrat, WV; three sisters Janice Phillips of Dandridge, TN, Kathy (Larry) Chafin of Sarah Ann, WV, and Lois (Pat) Mooney of Florida; one sister-in-law Wilma Jeffrey of Stirrat, WV; one brother-in-law Robert Adkins of Columbus, OH; his grandchildren Jakeb, Emma, Cameron, and Trey Jeffrey all of Hurricane, WV; and along with a host of family members and nieces and nephews that loved him dearly.
Visitation services will be held Friday, November 4th, 2022 starting at 12:00 pm at Collins Funeral Home Chapel in Switzer, WV with funeral services starting at 2:00 pm with Cliff Adkins conducting the services. Burial will follow afterwards at Highland Memory Gardens in Pecks Mill, WV. Masonic graveside services by Hugh C. Boyd 119 Red Jacket, WV.
