Doris Browning

Doris Browning, 76 of Wharncliffe, WV went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Hillcrest Healthcare Center in Danville, WV.

She was born on December 2, 1949, in Holden, WV and was the daughter of the late William Adkins and Rosa Hensley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Ed Adkins, Jimmy Adkins, Bill Adkins, Rev. Roy Adkins, and Rev. Johnny Adkins; and sisters, Bertha Dulcee, Carolyn Canterbury, Linda “Susie” Adams, Goldie Adkins, Emma Adkins, and Judy Adkins.

She enjoyed attending church and singing gospel music, with her favorite song being “My Home Is Just Around the Bend.” She enjoyed worshipping at Ben Creek Free Pentecostal Holiness Church and Ben Creek Faith Church of God. She was of the Pentecostal faith, and her love for the Lord and gospel music was a cherished part of her life.

Those left to cherish her loving memory includes her loving husband of thirty seven years, Michael Browning of Wharncliffe, WV; children, Roger Dale (Rhonda) West of Indiana, Jerry Randall (Lana) West of Indiana, Billy West of Indiana, and John David West of Indiana; grandchildren, AJ, Lindsey, Justin, Mariah, Lily, Luke, Everett, Cody, River, and Summer; special nephew whom she loved as her own, Jeremy Morrison; daughters as she loved as her own, Sandy Cline and Hayley Cline; and a host of great grandchildren, family, and friends who will all love and miss her.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, October 22, 2026, at Collins Funeral Home Chapel in Switzer, WV with Pastor Denny May and Pastor Danny Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Browning Family Cemetery in Wharncliffe, WV. Pallbearers will include her family and friends.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at 12:00 pm.
