David McKnight

David Lynn McKnight, 75 of Wilkinson, WV passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025 surrounded by his fiancée, Kim Mendez and special friends, Jeanie Stapleton and Katrina Sebolt at Logan Regional Medical Center in Logan, WV.

David was a 1968 graduate of Logan High School and was an employee of Kroger Company. He retired from there in 2011 after forty-one years of employment.

David was also involved with the Misfit Mission Street Ministry with feeding the homeless on Mondays and Fridays with Marti Dolin Gordon.

David enjoyed watching his adopted nephews, Bryson and Zachary play soccer and basketball, with him being the loudest fan in the stands, riding around on his Goldwing trike, and riding around with the top down on his convertible. In the last few months, he enjoyed watching Gunsmoke with his special friend, the late Rick Mendez.

He was born on November 27, 1949, to the late Ogler Thomas McKnight and Mary Lee Workman McKnight. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by, George (Nadine) McKnight, Thomas (Doris) McKnight, Eddie Gene (Joann) McKnight, Jerry (Kay) McKnight, and Roscoe McKnight.

Those left to cherish his loving memory includes his fiancée of twelve years, Kimberly Mendez; a special to be step son, Richard Mendez of Bristol, VA; a special to be step daughter, Catherine Jenna (Bryson) Ellis of Bentley Branch; a special sister in law, Stephanie (Gene) Bevins of Wilkinson, WV, sister in law, Deanna McKnight, niece, Linda McKnight; many nieces and nephews; two very special nephews that David considered to be like grandsons, Bryson Douglas Ellis and Zachary Aiden Ellis; special friends, Terry Ramey, Luther Shell, Joe Butler, Gary Roeher, and the gang at Parkway.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Collins Funeral Home Chapel in Switzer, WV.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Collins Funeral Home Chapel in Switzer, WV with Pastor Dennis Gordon officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens in Godby, WV. Pallbearers will include Bryson Ellis, Bryson Douglas Ellis, Zachary Ellis, Richard Mendez, Rusty Accord, and Andrew Zois.
