'Pappaw" as I called him was such an integral part of my life. I was blessed to have had the opportunity to spend quite a lot of time with him the past ten years. We went "round and round" several times during his rough health challenges, but I wouldn't change a minute of it. As bad as he felt some days, we always managed a laugh or two. He was one of a kind to put it mildly, and was a wonderful Father, Husband, Uncle, and Pappaw to the ones he loved. I'll miss you, buddy,.

Dan was a good influence on me and the boys of Slabtown. He showed us how to work hard and love the Mountaineers. I will always remember him.
