Bruce L. "CHAMP" Nelson

Bruce L. “CHAMP” Nelson, born October 4, 1972, in Logan, West Virginia, passed away on August 27, 2026. His passing leaves a deep sense of loss for his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.

Bruce was a hardworking man whose last place of employment was Advance Auto. He will be remembered for the meaningful place he held in the lives of those around him and for the memories he shared with his loved ones. His presence will be deeply missed, but the love he gave, and the moments shared with him will remain in the hearts of his family forever.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Thelma Faye Nelson Evans and Donald Nelson Sr., and his nephew, Adam Nelson.

He is survived by Teresa Nelson, Donald Nelson, Manny Nelson, Paylo Nelson, Crystal Nelson, and Micheal Nelson; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm Friday, September 4, 2026, at Collins Funeral Home Chapel in Switzer, WV.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Collins Funeral Home Chapel of Switzer, WV. Burial will follow in Baisden Cemetery in Verdunville, WV. Pallbearers will include his friends.

Bruce’s life touched many people, and his memory will continue through the family and loved ones he leaves behind. Though he is no longer with us, he will never be forgotten. The love and memories he gave will remain a lasting part of the lives of all who knew him. Rest in peace, Bruce. You will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
