Betty Lou Vance

January 10, 1939 — February 14, 2016

Betty Lou Davis Vance, 77 of Switzer, made her trip to her Heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savoir Jesus Christ Sunday, February 14th 2016 at Logan Regional Medical Center. Born January 10th 1939 at Rossmore. She was the daughter of the late Giles and Dolly Bradley Davis. Betty was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to everyone she met. She was a member of the Hillcrest Freewill Baptist church at Micco. Before she attended Hillcrest, she was a member and youth leader at Walnut Grove Freewill Baptist. She had a passion for the youth. Her home was always open and was a refuge for the young people of the community. Her first love was singing for the Lord. She was one of the founding members of the Joy Tones gospel group. She was in the all-state choir in junior high and high school. She was also a cook at Logan High School. In addition to her parents, she was also proceeded in death by her loving husband, Donald Lee; Two sons Donald and Ronald Vance; Sister Maxine Capua; Brothers Lynnie Davis and Bill Davis. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving daughter and best friend Katrina Lynn (Dale) Collins of Switzer, 2 sisters Christine (Mansfield) Dameron, and Jo Hileman; Four grandchildren, Zachery (Ashlea) Bassham, Stephanie (Cole) Smallwood, Stephen Vance, Olivia (Tyler) Mounts; One great-granddaughter Kinslee Grace "Gracey" Smallwood; 2 daughter in laws Judy Bradley, Amy Robertson. One special niece that stood by her side Faith Conn; A host of family and friends. Betty's family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Harvey, The nursing staff of Logan Regional Medical Center, and the LEASA ambulance drivers, for always taking great care of Betty. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-9 at Collins Funeral Home Chapel.  A celebration of her life will be held at 12 on Wednesday at Collins Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens. Officiating will be by Robert Nelson, Scotty Nelson, and Henry Damron.
